Our final day of the Manchester Cup consisted of a game against Real Colorado. We came away with a 3-2 win, giving us a final record of 3 wins 2 losses and 1 tie. Overall, we had a phenomenal time at such a prestigious tournament, and learned alot about ourselves as a team.
We played a friendly match today since we did not advance from group play. Legends FC out of Southern California was our opponent. It was a great game with both teams playing a possesive style of soccer. The game ended in a 0-0 draw. After our game, the team got together to go go-karting at a local indoor track. Needless to say, we all had a great time letting our competitive sides show in something other than soccer. Tomorrow, we have one more friendly match at 10am before we leave for home.
Day three brought more games. Our first game at 8:00 am was against Dallas Texans. We played hard, but came up short, losing 2-0. In between games at 11:45 all teams were invited to watch Barcelona vs. Manchester United in the Champions League final, inside the theater in the Tiger Woods Building. For our final game of the day, we took on Ohio Premier. With a strong start, we won with considerable ease 3-0, closing out group play with a 2-2 record.
We played our first games of the Manchester Premier Cup today. Our first match took place at 9:40 am against Real SoCal. With great play all across the board, we came away with a 3-0 win. Our second game, 2:40 pm, was against Crossfire Premier, a team from Washington. We fought hard, but came up short, losing 1-0. After the game,we checked out
the player’s lounge Nike had set up for us. We could play pool, foosball, Fifa ’11 on Playstation, try on new Nike cleats, or just chill on the couches. Then, that night we traveled into the city for a special shopping night at Niketown Portland. We have two games tomorrow to finish out group play.
After arriving in Portland, we took part in registration and the opening ceremony. Both events were held in the Tiger Woods building at the Nike World Headquarters. During registration, we players received a product demonstration at which we were all given tournament bags, balls, and jackets. After the excitement of free apparel wore off, the business portion of the night took place, the opening ceremony. Held in the Stanford Theater, all the tournament teams were treated to a surprise appereance by U.S. Men’s National Team player Herculez Gomez. Then, in a World Cup style draw, we found out the teams we would be playing. We are in Group A along with:
Real SoCal (CA), Crossfire Premier (WA), Dallas Texans (TX), and Ohio Premier (OH).
Let the games begin!
